poomsae
Taekwondo forms or poomsae in Korean are a sequence of Taekwondo techniques linked together into a pattern of moves. Every belt level has a designated, World Taekwondo authorized poomsae, which competitors will perform at the competition. Please see the information packet on this page for which poomsae is for your belt. Judges will grade poomsae based on accuracy and presentation.
pair & Team poomsae
Pair poomsae is performed in a team of 2. Team poomsae can be performed with a group up to 5 people. In this category, competitors are graded on their group’s overall accuracy, presentation, and synchronization with teammates.
Breaking
Each competitor is allowed to have up to two techniques for breaking. You can break up to 3 boards for each break and extra points will be given for higher technique breaks (ex: spinning, jumping, etc.). Build your courage and perform in front of an audience!
team breaking
Build your team of up to 5 members and put together a demonstration & breaking routine! Teams can break 20 boards max. Performances will be graded based on creativity, difficulty & quality of breaks, showmanship & presentation, and overall composition & flow. This is your chance to get creative and show your best!
Little dragons’ obstacle course
Athletes up to the age of 6 will get multiple attempts to get through a series of obstacles that will challenge their agility, coordination, speed, power, and focus. There will also be board breaking elements throughout!
Sport Poomsae
This category is for black belts only. Competitors will be judged by certified referees on technical accuracy (correct movements, stances, and sequence) and presentation (power, speed, rhythm, balance, and energy). This division is ideal for students with experience in competition-style poomsae or those preparing for higher-level events. If unsure, please ask your instructor which division best suits your child.
